Blackberry and apple crumble

Sweet

If you haven’t got time to make your own topping, no problem – just use Asda Crumble Mix instead

Asda Blackberry & Apple Compote is made from fresh fruits simmered in a sugar syrup to create a perfectly balanced sweet and tangy flavour. It’s ideal as part of a crumble, and all you’ll need to do is make the crunchy topping, which is easy:

  • Spoon the compote into individual oven-proof serving dishes (see left), filling each one three quarters of the way up. Gently press the compote in with the back of a spoon.

  • To make the crumble topping, you’ll need equal measures of flour, oats, butter and sugar. Mix the flour and oats in a large bowl, then rub in the butter, keeping it fairly lumpy. Stir in the sugar. Spoon the crumble topping onto the compote and press the topping gently, again using the back of a spoon.

  • Bake at 190C/170 Fan/Gas 5 for 20 minutes or until cooked. Leave to cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Asda Blackberry & Apple Compote, £1.59 (300g; 53p/100g)
