Stylist to the stars Andrew Barton works his magic to transform one lucky reader's hair

“Tame my wavy mane”

Marylène Lanari, 37, is from Herne Hill in South London and works in finance. She’s looking for a wash and go cut. Her hair is super-thick and takes ages to blow-dry, so she lets it dry naturally. She’s desperate to tame her wavy mane into a more manageable style.

Miracle worker
As International Creative Director of Saks, Andrew Barton tends to celebrity tresses and has a huge regular clientele. Watch him on TV’s 10 Years Younger and it’s easy to see why he’s called the ‘People’s Hairdresser’. Now he’s treating Asda Magazine readers to his superstar makeovers. ‘I’m going to work with Marylène’s thick, curly hair by creating a long bob with no layers, so the weight keeps it smooth,’ he says. ‘I’ll keep her natural colour, but make it richer.’

Andrew’s transformation
‘Marylène’s features are ideal for my updated bob. She can wear it down, tied back, or up for an evening look. Marylène’s hair is textured, so I’ve cut into the ends and cleaned away the build-up of colour with a mild chemical wash – then I put in a copper-brown to make it glint.

‘Her hair tends to be frizzy, so we washed it with Shiny Happy Hair Straight Answer Shampoo and matching conditioner. Before blow-drying, I applied Shiny Happy Hair Frizz Tamer for control. For extra shine, I used Shiny Happy Hair Gloss Boss De-Frizz Shine Serum, then created some soft curls.’
